Open call for winter writing residencies December 2024 – February 2025

We are very happy to announce our first open call for winter writing residencies in collaboration with The Temporary Bookshelf
During December 2024 – February 2025 we will host a series of reading & writing residencies where writers can work on their individual literary projects.
Muijala’s winter landscape offers the ideal surroundings for focus and inspiration. During the winter of ’24- ’25, we will host 3 to 4 writers at the same time. We will organise weekly peer-reading sessions during which we will collectively read each other’s texts and provide opportunities for feedback.
The call is open for artists, writers and cultural professionals of all disciplines and backgrounds who need time & space to develop their text-based work. The main language of our communication & peer-reading sessions will be in English, but we are also welcoming projects in different languages. While selecting the applications we aim to create a groups of matching language and content.
duration: a residency stay between 3 weeks – 3 months during December 2024 – February 2025
costs: sliding scale residency fee between €450 – 750 per person per month
accommodation: each writer gets a private bedroom in our accommodation house and can use the common spaces there: a kitchen, living room, bathroom and 2 toilets. In addition each writer gets a workspace in our writers’ studio, located on the same premises. Writers are also welcome to use our yard, sea sauna and to visit the nature trail and forests surrounding the residency.

- Short description of your project/ writing practice
- Duration of stay & preferred dates (if possible several options)

We will inform all applicants by 22.10.2024 about our decisions
The applications will be evaluated by a committee from members of Taidetila Muijala and The Temporary Bookshelf. The winter writing residencies ’24 – ’25 is our first collaboration and aims to be a fertile ground for further collaborations including publication projects and literary events.
