Alongside the Rauma Triennale, Taidetila Muijala will show its annual summer exhibition. Soft fascination presents the work of 13 international artists who have participated in Muijala’s artist residency program during the last 2 years. United by notions of care, hospitality and exchange from an ecological perspective, the works aim to create new connections between ourselves and the natural world.

‘Soft fascination’ is a state of mind that allows one’s attention to broaden and roam, it provides opportunities to reflect and introspect. Much like being in nature- it allows for embodied awareness, unselfing and engagement with the world around us.

During their residency stay, the artists lived and worked in Muijala’s natural surroundings, letting soft fascination influence their artistic process. The artworks presented in this exhibition invite you to experience this mind-set: ways of looking are challenged, time stretches and bends, fragility and vulnerability are explored and borders are crossed.

We will kick off our 2-months summer program with a festive opening on Saturday June 7, from 12:00-16:00.

Accessibility

We have an audio guide of the exhibition with visual descriptions in English.

There are wall labels in Finnish and English introducing the artworks and artists.

There is a public compost toilet, unfortunately not yet wheelchair-accessible.

Two of our major exhibition spaces are wheelchair accessible, the other two spaces are unfortunately not yet step-fee.

The pop-up summer café has accessible outdoor seating.

Parts of the exhibition are multi-sensory, via touch objects and sound components.

There is seating in all of the exhibition spaces.

Service dogs are welcome.

We are working on updating the Muijala accessibility structure as soon as possible.
