Join Muijala!

Are you interested in how a residency works? Do you have some ideas that you’ve always wanted to put into action? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

This year, we want to restructure our organisation. We’re looking for new people to join us in evolving our space and creating the next phase of Muijala together. For this, we will form two new working groups:

1. RESIDENCY AND ART SPACE
Our beautiful residency and art space has been up and running for two years now. In this new chapter, we are rethinking how it could be sustainable. This will include reflecting on the division of responsibilities. There are plenty of different skillsets we need: communication, financial management, curation of programmes, networking, integrating into the local community, physical maintenance of the space as well as the practical day to day running of it.

2. GARDEN AND FOREST PROJECT
This is a new project that will make use of our spacious land and refer to the premises’ former identity as a gardening school. The idea is to create a garden that can be a meeting point between Muijala, the local community, visitors and the artists. It will be connected to the residency but also function as a separate entity. We are looking for people with experience, knowledge or interest in gardens, forests, ecology and plants to help found and shape this new adventure with us.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
At this stage, we are very flexible and open as to how to build up these groups from the ground up. If you are interested, we would love to start by meeting you and discussing possibilities together. Due to a lack of funding, we are currently volunteer-led. However, we will be applying for funding as a working group to create paid opportunities – we are committed to making Muijala run sustainably in the future.
